In this newsletter extra, we bring you the exciting news that, this week, we’ve launched our new programme, Money Makes Change. We’ve been working hard on this for the past 6 months and we’re delighted to share the news with you – read on to find out more!
WHAT IS MONEY MAKES CHANGE?
Money Makes Change is a programme and set of resources we’ve designed to help Christians explore and make ethical choices around money. The first resource to be launched as part of the programme is for small groups – it offers a conversation-based introduction to questions of money and faith. A handbook for facilitators, PowerPoint, handouts & worksheets, can be downloaded for free from our website.
We have other exciting resources in the pipeline, including Bible studies, all-age materials and a resource for churches to take practical action. These will be launched over the next few months. The programme builds on our work in recent years – specifically our regional project (Ethical Money Churches) and the Your Faith, Your Finance website that was launched in 2013 in partnership with Quaker Peace and Social Witness. Money Makes Change brings these two strands of work together with the aim of reaching a wider audience and inspiring deeper engagement and more practical action.
WHY MONEY MAKES CHANGE?
The name, Money Makes Change, came about as we wrestled with how to link the language of finance to the themes of community, connection and action. We hope the simplicity and alliteration will make it easy to remember! The strapline, Connecting faith and finance for a fairer world, spells out the purpose of the programme. We want to help people understand how the daily decisions we all make about money can impact our neighbours, locally and globally, and all of God’s creation. Conversation and prayer around our finances can, and should, lead to action – and we look forward to hearing stories of what this looks like in practice as churches and individuals explore our resources this year.Rosie explains more in her latest blog, now live on the ECCR website.
