Attracting votes to the need for fundamental structural change

Dear Associates,
A fairly basic 3-minute video by George Soros www.ineteconomics.org/perspectives/videos/has-economic-theory-failed. Identifying some key contrasts in our approach to, for instance,
a] Social Sciences [each human will of one’s own]  and Natural Phenomena [laws of natural creativity]. b] Cognitive and Manipulative functions interfere with each other – their Reflexivity.

How, in succinct terms, like these 3 minutes of Soros, are we defining and applying these insights to the nature of the changes so vital to a sustainable future? How can we do so in a way that will appeal to all voters, most of whom leave economics and politics to ‘specialists’? – Your own reflections would be valuable in this network.

One small group wrestling with this issue produced these thoughts in a self-limiting 200 words. They invite replacement or improvement within a simiilar constraint…………………

1.   MAKE TIME TO BE AT HOME

Take time to think, feel, act in the
integral dimensions of our shared home;
its ecological, political, economic,
cultural, psychological nature, a sacred planet.

Look beyond the grip of ‘power’ and ‘individualism’
asking questions of how we might shape
a compassionate, sustainable future and
what it means to practice ‘global’ ecotherapy.[*]

Deepen your sense of membership of an ecosystem,
a living singular, yet complex planet in the Universe.
Explore what it means, not merely to be ‘stewards’
of ‘the environment’, but members of its Community.

Yes, a community vested in our Common Good
relying on interdependence and Common Wealth,
sensing the reality of ever evolving Life,
ourselves as persons and unique species,

with our vital role in this unfolding wonder.

 2.   YOUR ROLE IN STRUCTURAL CHANGE

To harmonise humanity with nature
is almost a craze, at least a craving;
calls for integrity mounting on many sites.

Lacking, alas, is collaboration on details of
the structural change so urgently required.
Who advocates and how, the basic structural faults
now long perpetuated? The three prime flaws

– institutional hierarchies of command,
– theft of the commons
– usurious taking of the fruits of others’ labour?

Please comment,
Yours, as the crisis deepens and therefore the opportunity to tackle the roots of our human individualism and conceits.
Peter
